The airshow in Colorado had drawn enthusiasts from every corner of the state, and the chaos was palpable. The smell of frying oil from food trucks mixed with the acrid scent of jet fuel, creating a heady cocktail that lingered in the heavy, humid air.
Traffic had been a nightmare. Id spent nearly an hour inching my way through the crowds, their excitement infectious yet overwhelming. Children darted between clusters of people, their sticky hands clutching cones of melting ice cream. Engines roared to life in the background, reverberating through my chest like distant thunder, but I was here for one reason: the DC-3.
The aircraft stood a few hundred yards away, gleaming under the midday sun. Its polished silver skin reflected the world around it, capturing the deep blue of the sky and the vibrant colors of nearby planes.
